“There is a dramatic increase in demand for bespoke jewelry”
Alia Bhatt’s personalized wedding band featured a hexagonal diamond above a band that had eight diamonds encrusted, symbolizing Ranbir Kapoor’s lucky number. Many couples are now opting for something similar personalized. Aanchal Goel, founder of a diamond jewelry brand, says: “We are seeing a demand for unique rings that reflect the couple’s individual style and unique personality. We have seen a dramatic increase in demand for bespoke jewelry. Customers are no longer content with mass-produced items, they want something specially designed for them, like infinity, stackable rings, which have a solitaire, or matching wedding bands, which provide a sense of unity and symmetry. Adds Ambar Pariddi Sahai, jewelry designer and owner of a jewelry brand: “Modern brides prefer to order simple but original rings. Also, couples opt for matching bracelets with a message, their initials or a symbol engraved on the bracelet.

“Diamonds are still popular, with many modern brides opting for alternative stones such as sapphires, emeralds and rubies”
While diamond solitaires continue to be popular among brides-to-be, some are also opting for sapphires, emeralds and rubies. “Gemstones like sapphires, rubies and emeralds are well accepted in wedding bands. Jewelry trend forecasts also suggest these gemstones will be trending in wedding bands. Katrina Kaif’s Blue Sapphire Diamond Ring is already popular among brides,” Ambar informs. “Large stones and sculptural designs are gaining popularity with classic pear and oval cuts. Modern brides are specifically looking for double stones, which visually highlight the confluence of two people. We see people choosing unique diamonds and gemstones,” adds jewelry brand owner Bharti Bangur. Even heirloom pieces and heirlooms are making a comeback in wedding bands. Ritu Bajoria, owner of a another jewelry brand, says, “As diamond rings are very common, brides come to us looking for heavy and heritage like polki or jadau rings. We see a lot of couples coming to us with their heirloom pieces. They want the room to be redesigned and changed into something modern.

“From Beyonce to JLo and Kareena to Katrina, brides look to celebrity styles for wedding band inspiration”
Whether it’s Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif, their wedding rings have definitely inspired many brides, and jewelers say brides are also closely following the rings sported by international celebrities like Beyonce and JLo. “Over the years, we’ve seen several celebrities choose unique and eye-catching engagement rings. From Beyonce’s huge diamond solitaire to Jennifer Lopez’s square emerald ring, there are endless ways to make a statement with your wedding band. And it seems that couples are taking inspiration from their favorite celebrities when choosing their own rings. We’ve seen an increase in customers asking for fashionable rings worn by celebrities at events. Whether they’re looking for a ring with a large center stone or a more unusual cut, it’s clear that celebrities have a big impact on the world of wedding jewelry,” says Aanchal Goel.
