The annual Rising Star Mill art exhibition and sale returns

For the Gazette
NELSONVILLE – After two long years of “darkness” at Nelsonville’s historic Rising Star Mill, the annual Rising Star Mill Art Exhibition and Sale is back on the calendar May 28-29. Twenty-eight artists from central Wisconsin will be exhibiting and selling their artwork, both indoors and under tents. This year’s show is dedicated to Bud Eagon, Dick Raatz, Brenda Gingles and Brooke Newman, all former entertainers. They have passed away since the last show in May 2019.

Due to COVID, only seventeen performers will be appropriately spaced inside the factory building; the others will set up tents around the mill. The Village of Nelsonville Board of Directors has proposed to close 1st Street near the Windmill to make room for artists’ tents and parking, significantly expanding the outdoor space for the event.

The Feed Sack refreshment room will once again offer drinks, treats and barbecues in “to-go” containers, with an outdoor area to relax while eating.

The well-being and safety of all come first in the planning of the committee; CDC recommendations for indoor masking at the time of the event will be strongly encouraged.
